At Cannonball Coffee we sell great-tasting high-caffeine blends that help you do more.
We’ve previously talked about the benefits of adding healthy fats to your strong coffee to boost cognitive function. Now we have developed a new product that combines four of the most popular plant-based nootropic extracts. Totally natural, it is designed to be stirred into your morning coffee to help switch your brain on.
A nootropic is any compound that enhances brain function. They can be natural or man-made. Although caffeine is a nootropic, it wasn’t until I was given a Lion’s Mane tea a few months ago that I became aware of this phenomenon. I was immediately impressed by how much sharper the Lion’s Mane made me feel.
Nootropics are becoming increasingly popular amongst health-conscious people seeking to increase their productivity. They are typically available in tablet form or as a powder. A search on Amazon will reveal dozens of companies selling pills with a heap of bizarre sounding ingredients. Following my experience of Lion’s Mane tea, we decided to produce our own natural product.
We’ve gone for an easy to mix powder which can be added to your coffee. The four high concentration extracts that go into Exceed are Lion’s Mane, Chaga, Cordyceps and Bacopa. They provide a broad range of benefits, which I will explain below:
Lion’s Mane has been shown to improve brain function. It contains neuroactive compounds that stimulate nerve growth factor (NGF) production. NGF helps maintain neurons – the cells responsible for helping your brain process and transmit information. Read more here.
The Lion’s Mane used in Exceed is grown on wood, rather than synthetically on oats like cheaper versions. Only the fruit body is used, which contains more of the ‘good stuff’.
Bacopa is a herb which is native to India. It has been used in traditional Indian and Chinese medicine for many hundreds of years, to treat a range of ailments. However it is best known for helping improving memory. It contains biologically active compounds that stimulate certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Studies have shown Bacopa to have memory-enhancing effects, and help alleviate symptoms of stress.
Chaga is known as ‘the king of mushrooms’. It is dense in vitamins, minerals and nutrients. You could consider it a grown-up version of effervescent vitamin drinks! Chaga is rich in antioxidants, which protect us from harmful molecules called free radicals. There are numerous claims about specific benefits of Chaga, but studies remain limited to mice and laboratories. For now just rest-assured they are packed with healthy nutrients.
Cordyceps are a fungi traditionally grown on the larvae of insects (don’t worry ours are grown on grain). Cordyceps is understood to increase the body’s production of the molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is essential for delivering energy to the muscles. This may improve the way your body uses oxygen, especially during exercise. Studies have shown Cordyceps to improve exercise performance.
